Christine Miranda will never forget the day she and her classmates graduated from Shenendehowa last month at SPAC.

"For me, I worked very hard in high school and graduating just felt like a giant weight was taken off of your shoulders," she said. "Everything you had worked for and that you'd set your mind to doing, came together in that one moment."

Miranda has always lived in Clifton Park, so she's eager to break out of the bubble.
Her father, Willie, owns his own real estate company - Miranda Real Estate Group - and her mother, Shari, is an elementary school teacher in Schenectady.

She also has a younger sister Julia, 15, who is going into her sophomore year at Shenendehowa.
Miranda describes her family as her rock, the ones who keep her grounded amid the chaos of life.

She works at Venezia Pizza and Pasta in the evenings and also Malta Summer Recreation Program as a camp councilor during the day.

She also volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House, and does some other charity work on the side. "It's really important to me so I put a lot of time into it," Miranda said.

In the fall she will be entering Bentley University - one of the nation's leading business schools, which infuses an advanced business curriculum with the complexity of a liberal arts education - in Waltham, Massachusetts. Her major will be marketing, her minor corporate communications. "I knew that I always wanted to do the business route, but it took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do; business is such a broad topic, there's so many things that you can do, " Miranda said. "I really got interested in marketing when I took a marketing class during my senior year for college credit. It really sparked my interest in marketing and what's involved and the psychological game that marketers play was really intriguing to me, the whole how products are marketed and how people respond to certain colors or smells or looks."

She is excited to begin her next chapter in one of the oldest cities in the United States. "I absolutely love Boston, it's an awesome city," Miranda said. "It's also a business school, specifically designed for business students, so I thought that would be the best place for me."

She played soccer throughout her high school career and plans on continuing the sport at the intramural level in college.

"I'm most looking forward to starting my life; starting to figure out what I want to do, what my job will be, what interests me and doesn't interest me," Miranda said. "Just kind of rediscover myself in a new light and a new place."
