After what many feel was one of the longest (and coldest) winters on record, the snow has finally melted and the ground is littered with aged brown leaves that have been held hostage under layers of white.

Through an agreement with the town of Clifton Park, County Waste has begun free yard waste pickup for all residents, and will continue it until November, when the next chills from Jack Frost start to set in once again.

Leaves and brush will be collected in brown paper yard waste bags; no yard waste will be collected from garbage cans. Also, brush that is less than 4 feet long and 3 inches in diameter will be collected if tied in bundles small enough that one person can pick up without assistance.

The waste pickup days will be every Monday, Tuesday and Friday.
To keep the streets clean and the lawns neat, the bagged leaves and brush should not be placed out for collection until the night before the pickup day.

Residents south of Ballston Lake Road and Kinns Road will have pickup Monday or Tuesday, and pickup north of Kinns Road and Ballston Lake Road will be on Friday.

For additional information on yard waste pickup program, call County Waste at 877-7007. Residents can also contact Town Supervisor Phil Barrett's office at 371-6651 with any questions.
