49% of female athletes to join Tokyo Olympics: IOC

This year, for the first time in history, the Olympics will feature an equal number of female and male athletes. This was said by the International Olympic Committee on the occasion of Women’s Day. The Tokyo Olympics were scheduled to be held in July last year, which were postponed due to Corona. Now, these games will be from 23 July to 8 August this year. The committee said that according to the quota set by the committee, about 49% of female athletes will join the Tokyo Olympics. This will be the first Olympics in history when the number of female and male athletes is equal. The number of mixed events also increased. Women’s and men’s events are also kept almost equal. The number of 9 mixed events has also been increased to 18. | This is double from the previous Rio Olympics. The International Committee said that there are 206 National Olympic Committees worldwide. In the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics, 1-1 women and men will walk the flag from every country. After this, Tokyo Paralympics will also be held from 24 August to 5 September. It will comprise about 40.5% of female athletes
