Enough rallies, now let the public go for: High court

Taking a dig at the election rallies in Bengal amid Corona’s growing transition, the Calcutta High Court said that all this is now enough, now let the public consider whom it will vote for.

Hearing a PIL filed in the High Court seeking a ban on electoral meetings and rallies, a bench of Chief Justice TBN Radhakrishnan and Judge Arijit Banerjee said that the commission is responsible for conducting the elections under the Corona Protocol. The commission will have to ensure that the corona protocol is followed during the voting and for this the state government will have to provide all possible help to the commission. Advocates of the state government said that the Election Code of Conduct has been implemented in the state. Because the state government can no longer take any policy decision. On this, the Chief Justice asked the state government why the Election Commission will have to take full responsibility, it will have to be informed during the hearing on the case next Thursday.
