Gremlins is one of the most emblematic and beloved films in 80s cinema and that apparently will surprise us with an upcoming installment of the saga. The rumors of Gremlins 3 are not new, previously the creator of the original story, Chris Columbus, commented on a possible movie.
This time the writer has once again given hope to the project and to the fans of Gizmo and his gang, in a recent interview for Collider.
“I would love to do it. I wrote a script, so there is an existing script. We are solving some rights issues right now, so we are just trying to figure out when would be the best time to make that movie. I would still do it the same way: I would do it as tangible puppets, not as CGI. We had a stop-motion scene in the early Gremlins, but I don’t think I would use much CGI in Gremlins 3“.
Although the project does not yet have the green light, it excites the fact that it has a story ready to run and that it would mark Gremlins’ return to the big screen after 30 years. Of course, first we will see them return with Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, the next HBO television series.
