Hearing on petition to stop construction of Central Vista declined

The Supreme Court on Friday refused to hear a plea seeking to stop the construction of Central Vista during the Corona epidemic. The Supreme Court, however, allowed the petitioner to go to the Delhi High Court and request an immediate hearing. The apex court was hearing a petition filed against the May 4 order of the Delhi High Court. While hearing the case for May 17, the High Court had said that it first wants to study the January 5 order of the Supreme Court, in which it had allowed the ambitious project to continue.

The Supreme Court asked senior advocate Siddharth to go to the High Court to hear the case on 10 May. A bench of Justices Vineet Sharan and Dinesh Maheshwari said, “We are of the view that the matter is pending with the High Court.” The order which has been challenged through the petition is just a stay order.
