India Government Approves Navy’s Proposal to purchase Shipborne Drones

The Navy is now going to purchase 10 shipborne drones after leasing two Predator drones from the US. The Ministry of Defense has approved the Navy’s proposal to purchase shipborne drones to increase surveillance capability in the Indian Ocean.

Government sources said, ‘A proposal was presented by the Navy to the Ministry of Defense in fast track mode. The Navy will buy 10 naval shipborne unmanned aerial systems. The government has released Rs 1300 crore for this.

Navy will buy these drones through open tender. The open tender will be issued under procurement in the Global category and after being acquired the drone will be immediately deployed to monitor the Navy’s large warship.
