Who would not like to study in top higher educational institutions like IIT and IIM, but their presence in all the states with the limited number of institutes and seats is a major obstacle in this path. However, the Ministry of Education has started work on a plan to remove this hurdle.
Under this, higher educational institutions like IITs and IIMs will now be opened in all states. Currently in the country, IITs exist in 22 states and union territories and IIMs in 20 states. Uttar Pradesh alone is the only state where two IITs are present.
The Ministry of Education has currently started work on this plan to open these institutions in all states after the introduction of a new National Education Policy, which recommends opening such institutions in all states. Anyway, when the implementation of the new national education policy is going on fast as such, the Ministry has also shown seriousness about this proposal.
At present, all such states have been identified. According to sources, in the coming days, a decision can be taken to open such institutions in deprived states. Anyway, after the arrival of the Modi government, it is trying to increase the number and seats of top higher educational institutions.
It can also be guessed that since 2014, seven new IIMs and so many new IITs have been opened in the country so far. Before 2014, there were only 13 IIMs and 16 IITs in the country.
