The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said on Monday that from now on ‘My Fastag app’, the balance information will also be available. For this, this app has been updated. In a statement, NHAI said that only vehicles equipped with Fastag will be able to pass through all its toll plazas from January 1. For the smooth implementation of this rule, the ‘Fast Balance Account’ feature has been added in the My Fastag app.
According to NHAI, this facility will enable both the drivers and toll operators to get real-time information of the balance available in the fastag of a vehicle. This will avoid disputes related to the available balance in Fastag on the toll plaza. Along with this, NHAI has taken another good step for the convenience of passengers to refresh the fast tag put on the blacklist.
That is, the time limit for bringing it to the stage of acceptance has been reduced from 10 minutes to three minutes. This means that all the latest information related to that fastag will be updated in no more than three minutes. This will also facilitate passengers including toll plazas.
According to NHAI, the balance in the My Fastag app will be seen in three colors. Green means the fastag has enough balance to pass through the toll. Orange color means less balance. In this case, the driver can recharge through the mobile app itself or from the Point of Sale (POS) at the nearest toll plaza.
A recharge facility can be availed. If the balance color on the app is showing red then it means that the fast tag has been put on the blacklist for some reason. In this situation, problems associated with that fastag at the nearest toll plaza can be resolved. NHAI has built more than 40,000 POS at toll plazas across the country so that the drivers do not face any problem.
In its statement, NHAI has said that the objective of adding new facilities to the Fastag app is to reduce the time taken to solve the problems related to Fastag on toll plazas and provide better facilities to the passengers. From January 1 next year, only fast-equipped vehicles will be able to pass through any toll plaza on NH. With this, only those vehicles will be given fitness certificate and third party insurance facilities from April 1, which will have Fastag.
