In Madhya Pradesh, permission for building construction will now be given only on the condition of planting saplings. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made this announcement on World Environment Day on Saturday.
He said that now it will be given legal form and this condition will not be limited to urban areas only. Permission for construction of buildings in villages will be given only after taking oath by the builder to plant saplings. Plant a tree around the house builder. If there is no space, then plant saplings in parks or public places (Panchayat buildings, school premises), wherever available. Gram Panchayats will also be asked to ensure this. That the builder of the house should plant at least one sapling.
Inaugurating the massive plantation drive ‘Ankur’, the Chief Minister said that this condition would also be applicable to the houses being constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The number of flats to be built in a multi-storey building, the builder will have to plant as many saplings. The condition of planting saplings will also be added in the construction of all government buildings.
