The Karnataka State Brahmin Development Board has launched two new schemes – Arudhanti and Maitreyi – to provide financial assistance to brides of economically weaker sections. According to the board, under these schemes, Brahmin brides marrying priests will be given a bond of Rs 25,000 under the Arundhati scheme and Rs 3 lakh under Maitreyi.
Murthy has told that the chairman of the board and BJP leader HS Sachidanand formed by the Yeddyurappa government of the state has said that both these schemes have been approved and funds have been allocated for them.
We are working on deciding the process of using them. He told that the money will be deposited in three installments and if the marriage continues for four years, then the amount will be given along with interest in the fourth year. Applicants of these schemes will have to provide proof that they do not have more than five acres of agricultural land and flats larger than 1,000 sq ft.
