Former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s partner and expelled from AIADMK, Sasikala returned to Tamil Nadu. Sasikala reached Adhipalli in the Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu, adjoining Karnataka at around 10 am on Monday. She declared that she would enter active politics. She said that she has taken this decision respecting public sentiment.
Her return to Tamil Nadu is significant in the sense that assembly elections are due in the next few months. Hundreds of supporters were present in her journey of 40 km. Due to her close association with the late Jayalalithaa, she is also called ‘Chinnamma’ by supporters. There was also a photo of Jayalalithaa on the front of the vehicle on which Sasikala was traveling. With the return to the state, there are signs of a confrontation with the ruling AIADMK. The party reiterated that the party has nothing to do with Sasikala and those who are with her. It is illegal for her to roam in a vehicle carrying the AIADMK flag. The party had recently appealed to the Tamil Nadu Police to stop the use of the flag of non-members of the party.
