Six killed in mine explosion in Karnataka, order for investigation

A stone quarry exploded in the Chikkaballapur district of Karnataka. Six people died in the explosion. The state government has ordered a CID probe.

According to sources, gelatin sticks were illegally kept in the mine. When the people running the mine illegally got a glimpse of the police raid, they started trying to remove it. Then it exploded. The mine was closed by the police by raiding earlier. Police say the people who removed the gelatin sticks were not experienced or experts. This is the reason for the explosion. Earlier on January 22, six people were killed in a similar explosion at the mine in Shivamogga, Karnataka.
