The wait for vaccination against Corona is about to end. The government has announced the introduction of vaccination across the country from 16 January.
Under this, three crore health workers and frontline workers will be vaccinated. A decision in this regard was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. In the meeting, the Prime Minister reviewed the preparations for vaccination in all states and union territories.
After the meeting, the statement issued by the government said, ‘After a comprehensive review, it was decided that vaccination will be started from January 16 because of festivals like Lohri, Makar Sankranti, Pongal, Magh Bihu, etc. Later, the Prime Minister also informed about this decision by tweeting.
The emergency use of Oxford AstraZeneca’s Kovishield and Bharat Biotech’s Kovaxin in the country has recently been approved by drug regulator DCGI. The Health Ministry has described both vaccines as effective in terms of safety and effectiveness in India.
