Vaccine update: More than 1.26 crore doses of vaccine have been rolled out in the country so far

Since the commencement of vaccination in the country on January 16, 1,26,71,163 vaccine doses have been administered so far. Of these, 65,24,726 health workers have been given the first, and 14,81,754 have been given the second dose. Apart from these, 43,60,153 frontline workers (police, scavengers, etc.) have also got their first doses done. Vaccination of frontline workers began on February 2. According to government figures, 5,05,565 doses were applied in the country on Thursday. On the other hand, Pfizer and its partner BioNotech said on Thursday that they have started testing their vaccine against new variants of Corona. The vaccine is being studied in people aged 18 to 55 and 65 to 85. At the same time, American company Moderna has said that it has prepared the drug for clinical trial against the B.1.351 variant of Corona found in South Africa. The company has also sent doses for the first phase of the trial.
