Director Sriram Raghavan and producer Dinesh Vigyan of Maddock Films announced their film 'Ikkis' back in 2019. Initially, Raghavan had teamed up with actor Varun Dhawan for the project, but due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the film faced delays. Eventually, Varun Dhawan opted out of the film, leading to its temporary shelving. However, there is good news for fans as Raghavan is now gearing up to start shooting for 'Ikkis' with a new cast.
Last year, Agastya Nanda, the grandson of Amitabh Bachchan, was cast as Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, and Dharmendra was set to portray his father. Unfortunately, the shooting could not commence at that time. However, recent reports suggest that Raghavan has initiated the pre-production work for 'Ikkis', and the shooting is scheduled to begin in the second week of October.
The shooting schedule, spanning six months, will include scenes depicting the Indo-Pak war of 1971, which will be filmed in November. Sources reveal that Raghavan has been passionately working on this biopic for several years, making it a very special project for him. Agastya Nanda, too, has started preparing for his role, undergoing a physical transformation and focusing on capturing the character's body language.
Agastya Nanda is also making his debut in Zoya Akhtar's directorial venture, 'The Archies', which is set to release on Netflix later this year. 'Ikkis' revolves around the life of Arun Khetarpal, a recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, and promises to be an intriguing and inspiring tale. Fans are eagerly awaiting the commencement of the shoot and the eventual release of this highly anticipated film.
