Samsung has introduced the ISOCELL HP5, the world's smallest 200MP camera sensor, designed for high-end smartphones. This 1/1.56-inch sensor features 0.5µm pixels, allowing for compact lens designs suitable for telephoto applications. The ISOCELL HP5 is expected to debut in the Oppo Find X9 Pro, marking a significant advancement in smartphone photography.

Key Features of the ISOCELL HP5:

  • High Resolution: Offers 200MP resolution (16,384 x 12,288 pixels) for detailed imaging.

  • Advanced Imaging Technologies: Incorporates Dual Vertical Transfer Gate (D-VTG) and Front Deep Trench Isolation (FDTI) to enhance pixel performance and light sensitivity.

  • Enhanced Zoom Capabilities: Supports dual in-sensor zoom, enabling high-quality digital zoom without significant loss of detail.

  • Fast HDR Processing: Can merge three differently exposed images into a single HDR shot in under two seconds, even at full 200MP resolution.

  • High-Resolution Video Recording: Capable of recording 8K video at 30fps, 4K video at 120fps, and 1080p slow-motion video at 480fps.

  • RAW Image Support: Theoretically allows for 14-bit RAW image storage, depending on smartphone compatibility.

The Oppo Find X9 Pro is anticipated to feature this sensor as its periscope telephoto camera, offering a 3x optical zoom lens. This configuration aims to provide high-quality zoom capabilities without the need for multiple telephoto lenses. The integration of the ISOCELL HP5 sensor is expected to enhance the device's overall photographic performance, particularly in zoom and low-light conditions.

Samsung's ISOCELL HP5 sensor represents a significant leap in mobile imaging technology, combining high resolution with compact design and advanced features, setting a new standard for smartphone cameras.
