Government to reduce tax on electric vehicles: Hyundai
As the country's second-largest auto major after Tesla chief Elon Musk moves closer to resuming operations in India, Hyundai has also urged the government to reduce import duty on electric vehicles (EVs). This, he said, will help accelerate the market for these vehicles. The company has also called this step necessary for the promotion of these environment-friendly vehicles. SS Kim, MD, and CEO, Hyundai Motor India, says that along with reducing the import duty, if the facility of charging EVs is installed on a large scale across the country, then the development and expansion of these vehicles in the country will go a long way. He said it would take time for companies to fully develop electric vehicles locally. The same has happened with petrol and diesel vehicles.
