Nash County Firefighters Battle Tavern Blaze
NASH COUNTY – Shortly after 23:00 hours on January 25, Nash County 911 began receiving calls reporting flames coming from the roof of the bar and tavern known as the “Hard Luck Saloon” (formerly known as “Bachelors Tavern”) located at 813 East Nash Street in the Spring Hope section of Nash County.
pring Hope, Momeyer and Stanhope fire departments were initially dispatched. First-in units reported heavy fire showing from the roof area of a one and two story building measuring 120 by 100 feet.
An aerial was requested from the Bailey Fire Department.
Firefighters went in service with 2.5-inch lines trying to contain the fire which began spreading to a large storage area in the rear of the building. The Bailey FD arrived and placed their tower in service for aerial operations.
The fire had consumed most of the front of the building and the roof caved in on the second floor.
Firefighters controlled the fire in about an hour. Most of the first and second floor areas received heavy fire damage and the rest of the building received heavy smoke and water damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Nash County Fire Marshal’s Office.
The business was closed at the time of the fire. Over fifty-five firefighters responded to the incident with no injuries reported.
