New secret of long neck giraffe
Scientist Lamarck had told that the desire to eat leaves from high branches made the neck of the giraffe long, but on Giraffe Day (June 21), know other secrets related to it, which the scientists found out from the fossil of giraffe found in China some time ago. From a fossil called Discoceryx shiji, scientists learned that 17 million years ago, giraffes were the size of a large wild sheep. Giraffes with thick skulls and strong neck bones used to fight among themselves by clashing heads. Those who had longer necks were better able to attack and had greater chances of victory. In this way the size of their neck increased and was passed on to the next generations through genes. However, it took many years for this to happen. Currently the tallest giraffe is found in Africa. The name of this 18 feet long giraffe with six feet neck is also recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records.
