Now you will have to make request in Supreme Court by email or slip
New Delhi | Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (CJI) Justice Sanjeev Khanna has banned oral mentioning for urgent hearing of cases. The CJI said on Tuesday, now oral request for urgent hearing will not be considered. For this, the request will have to be given by email or written slip. Also, the reason for urgent hearing will also have to be recorded. Usually, lawyers mention their case before the bench headed by the CJI for hearing of cases on the basis of urgency at the beginning of the day's proceedings. This was the system during the time of former CJI DY Chandrachud.
