In a chilling turn of events early Tuesday, a 22-year-old MBA student named Deepak Kumar was found dead in his hostel room at RCI Vidya Vihar in Knowledge Park-III, Greater Noida. His close friend and fellow management student, 23-year-old Devansh Chauhan, was discovered beside him with a severe head injury and rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Police arrived on the scene after a guard heard groaning from the locked room. Unable to open the door, the hostel warden accessed it from a balcony by breaking a window glass. Inside, the two students were discovered lying in pools of blood with gunshot wounds to the head. A licensed revolver—confirmed to belong to Devansh’s father, a retired UP STF officer—was recovered, along with two spent cartridges and four live rounds.

Investigators are currently probing how the weapon ended up in the room and the exact order of events that led to the tragedy. The fact that both sustained nearly identical injuries raises perplexing questions, complicated by the absence of any reported conflict between them—friends and classmates describe them as inseparable.

Doctors reportedly could not perform surgery on Devansh due to the nature of his injuries, and his survival remains uncertain. The college administration has begun coordinating with the families and local authorities, though no formal complaint has yet been filed. The room has been sealed off, forensic teams have collected evidence, and legal proceedings are underway.

As the investigation continues, the incident has triggered alarm among students and parents alike, prompting urgent discussions about hostel security, mental health support, and campus safety protocols.
