Vivo has officially unveiled its next-generation operating system, OriginOS 6, built on Android 16 and designed to bring a more intelligent, fluid and customised experience to its smartphones and those of its sub-brand iQOO. The company says the update is part of its “Comfort Engineering” vision and emphasises AI features, smoother visuals and deeper personalisation.

Key Features

OriginOS 6 introduces a fresh user interface with translucent elements, floating windows and dynamic gestures, aiming to create a more immersive and intuitive experience. The update also enhances background-task management, battery efficiency and system responsiveness. It includes new productivity tools and AI-driven smart functions that adapt to user behaviour and context.

Rollout Timeline

The OS was first revealed in China, where vivo confirmed an October 10 launch event. A global rollout will follow, with beta or preview programmes opening shortly. In India and other regions, the upgrade is expected alongside upcoming flagship devices. For many models, the update is slated to reach users from November 2025, with wider availability stretching into early 2026.

What This Means

This launch marks a shift for vivo globally: the company is phasing out its older FunTouch OS interface in favour of OriginOS, aiming for a unified software experience across markets. For users, it promises a more modern UI and smarter tools, especially if the AI and battery improvements deliver as promised.

In short, OriginOS 6 positions vivo and iQOO to better compete in the premium user-experience space, signalling that software updates and ecosystem polish are becoming as important as hardware in the smartphone race.
