Over 35 lakh investors joined the market in November: NSE
Amid the ongoing volatility in the stock market, over 35 lakh investors joined the market in November. Thus, the total number of investors reached 10.85 crores. This figure was 10.50 crores in October. According to a report by the National Stock Exchange, Maharashtra leads the country with the highest number of registered investors. The state has 1.8 crore investors. However, its share in the total investor base has declined from about 20 per cent in FY15 to 16.5 per cent in November 2024.
Uttar Pradesh remains in second place with a significant increase in its investor base. The state had crossed the one crore mark in April and by the end of November, the number of investors has increased to 1.2 crores. This is 11.3 per cent of the total investor base. It was 6.9 per cent in FY14-15. Gujarat is at the third position with 94.9 lakh investors.
