Second blast in 31 hours, Explosive thrown in a can from the Saragarhi parking lot
Amritsar | The second blast in 31 hours at Heritage Street, 800 meters before Sri Harmandir Sahib, has raised serious questions on the security system. There was a low intensity bomb blast on Saturday night at 11:30 pm. All the security agencies were engaged in its investigation that around 6:30 am on Monday, another explosion took place 10 meters away from here. The same type of explosive was used in both the blasts. One person was slightly injured in the blast. Police suspect that someone from Heritage Street may have been behind the blasts that night. A few hours after the second blast in 31 hours near Shri Darbar Sahib, DGP Gaurav Yadav reached Amritsar and got information from senior officers. After inspecting the spot, DGP Yadav said that the blast could be the act of some mischievous element. It is too early to say about the motive of the bomber. Terrorism, mischief and personal angle, all three are being investigated keeping in mind. Pieces of a cold drink can have been found from the blast site.
Central security agencies have also entered in the investigation. On Monday evening, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) team reached Amritsar and started the investigation. Earlier, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has sought a detailed report from the DGP Punjab Police. The report will be sent by Tuesday evening.
